James Gunn Gives Us Our First Look at David Corenswet’s Superman
It’s Monday and we’ve all got to get to work. Even the Man of Steel. James Gunn gave us our first look at David Corenswet’s Superman this morning with a new image that offers an intriguing glimpse of the hero suiting up. Seated and putting on one of his iconic red boots, Superman looks just about ready for action—and judging by the otherworldly attack we see taking place outside the window, Metropolis is going to need him.
One noticeable detail is that Superman does once again have his red trunks, marking a change from the last version of the super suit we saw onscreen and following the continuing evolution of the suit in the comics. The suit also seems like it’s a little more matte than we’ve seen recently, with an impressive ruby cape. We can’t wait to see it flowing onscreen!
James Gunn’s Superman is scheduled to be released on July 11, 2025. It’s both written and directed by Gunn and is set to be the first feature film in a highly anticipated new shared DC Universe. Starring Corenswet (Pearl, The Politician) as Superman and Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult (The Great) as Lex Luthor, Superman also features Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, María Gabriela De Faría as the Engineer, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher and Terence Rosemore as Otis.
