"Competencia Oficial" Movie Review by Rafy Mediavilla (@Rmediavilla).

"The Black Phone" : Stranger Danger! - Movie Review by Ana Sofía Cintrón (@Ana_Sofia53). #TheBlackPhone In 2012 the horror duo Scott Derickson and C. Robert Cargill brought a film that still haunts us to this day, and that is Sinister. Making its way to the top 10 scariest movies ever, It’s no surprise that the movie has made a huge influence within the horror community. Not many movies have scared me and made me feel uneasy quite like Sinister did. After working in the MCU with 2016’s Doctor Strange, this iconic duo went back to their roots, and announced their new project, The Black Phone. Being a fan from their previous work, I was quite excited about this one.   As children, one of the first rules our parents taught us is never to talk to a stranger; you never know what the ...

"The Black Phone" Movie Review by Rafy Mediavilla (@Rmediavilla). #TheBlackPhone After being abducted by a child killer and locked in a soundproof basement, a 13-year-old boy starts receiving calls on a disconnected phone from the killer's previous victims. With “The Black Phone” we see writer-director Scott Derrickson team up with actor Ethan Hawke for another thrilling scary joyride. The premises with The Black Phone is simple, and the execution is even more simple but works. The story is not mean to be over analyze. The story was it was present is meant to be enough as a +90-minute psychological thriller, where you are kept at the edge of your seat wanting to know how it will end. The jump scares are there but they are not at the for front of the story.  This movie i...

"Beavis And Butt-Head Do the Universe" Movie Review by Rafy Mediavilla (@Rmediavilla). #BeavisAndButtHeadDoTheUniverse #ParamountPlus After a "creative" judge sentences them to space camp, a black hole sends our adolescent heroes 24 years into the modern future where the duo misuse iPhones, embark on a quest to score, and become targets of the Deep State. Let me just come out and say it. I’m a fan of Beavis and Butt-head and grew up with the old MTV days. So, if I sound a bit bias, deal with it. With that out of the way, let me just add that the movie Is clearly not trying to reinvent the wheel, but I was surprised with that Mike Judge tried to do with the source material.  Much like “Do America” the premises with “Do the Universe” stays the same. The never-ending journey ...

"Elvis" Movie Review by Rafy Mediavilla (@Rmediavilla). #ElvisMovie Elvis is Baz Luhrmann's biopic of Elvis Presley, from his childhood to becoming a rock and movie star in the 1950s while maintaining a complex relationship with his manager, Colonel Tom Parker. And in my opinion the first clear award season bait of the year. Or at least, Austin Butler was that nomination for Best Actor secured for now. Elvis is this year’s award season King Richard and of course is also a Warner Bros movie, so that’s that. It works exactly as expected as tell all story being the icon that was Elvis Presley, minus the Priscilla Presley times which they didn’t dive into too much.  This movie shines in every single way imageable for awards season, from the cinematography, the production design...

"Men" Movie Review by Rafy Mediavilla (@Rmediavilla). #MenMovie In the aftermath of a personal tragedy, Harper (Jessie Buckley) retreats alone to the beautiful English countryside, hoping to have found a place to heal. But someone or something from the surrounding woods appears to be stalking her. What begins as simmering dread becomes a fully formed nightmare, inhabited by her darkest memories and fears in visionary filmmaker Alex Garland's (Ex Machina, Annihilation) feverish, shape-shifting new horror film. “Men” was one of those movies that I can clearly say I was hype to see. And honestly in the end it didn’t disappoint. This being said, “Men” is not for everyone, much like “Crimes of the Future” that also recently came out is a special type of horror. With “Men” director Ga...

"Lightyear" Movie Review by Rafy Mediavilla (@Rmediavilla). #Lightyear #DisneyPixar While spending years attempting to return home, marooned Space Ranger Buzz Lightyear encounters an army of ruthless robots commanded by Zurg who are attempting to steal his fuel source. Lightyear was that Disney Pixar/Toy Story “origin” movie, or is it? that is not 100 percent clear, Buzz Lightyear story that we didn’t know we wanted to see, but it worked just as effective at bringing out all the typical emotions that most Disney Pixar are known for.  The story is very straight forward, Buzz Lightyear is stuck in space with his crew, and he needs to find a way to get back home. But the whole ordeal comes with a lot of hefty baggage, and that where the story works. In the middle of the story Buzz...
