Highlighting the World class Mexican food movement, the visually arresting and informative doc THE MICHOACAN FILE, directed by Mexican/Canadian documentary filmmaker Bernardo Arsuaga, was awarded the documentary jury prize at the 2023 Newport Beach Intl. Film Festival.

Upon hearing about the award, Mr. Arsuaga said, “What a wonderful and unexpected surprise! Our team is so thrilled that the jury connected with the film in such a wonderful way and we are deeply humbled and appreciative of this prize.”

A documentary that’s a clear-eyed and loving look at the unique Mexican cultural diaspora, presented through the universal lens of a love of food. THE MICHOACAN FILE guides our eyes, minds, and stomachs through a smorgasbord of culinary delights, paired with a well-researched and equally engaging narrative, led by a myriad of delightful culinary experts & home cooks alongside noted academics, served up in a warm, cinematic dish sure to charm audiences far and wide.

A Canadian/Mexican co-production, the film is produced by Bernardo Arsuaga & Placido Arango and executive produced by Jaime Romandia & Danny Trejo.
