Zac Efron’s Most Popular Roles, His Latest Film Firestarter Hits Theaters & Peacock May 13.
Zac Efron has come a long way since his first major role as Troy Bolton from the “High School Musical” franchise. From portraying a singing athlete in “High School Musical” to his latest role in the upcoming Universal Pictures film Firestarter, Zac has shown that he can do it all.
In celebration of Firestarter’s theatrical and Peacock release, we’d like to take a look at Zac’s five most memorable roles:
- Starting with his first major role that landed him fame is his role as Troy Bolton in the classic “High School Musical” back in 2006. Zac plays super star athlete Troy Bolton who finds his true passion other than basketball is singing. He auditions for a role in his high school musical and discovers that it is ok to find a different path than what he was working towards.
- In 2007 Zac landed another musical role in Hairspray as Link Larkin, a local heartthrob that stars in the town’s local dance show The Corny Collins Show. This film is set in 1962 in the height of the civil rights movement in Baltimore Maryland where the film follows the segregation of Blacks and Whites especially in the entertainment industry.
- In 2014, Zac Efron stepped away from musicals and joined Seth Rogan in the comedy, Neighbors where Zac plays Teddy Sanders, the obnoxious fraternity leader who moves in next door from Seth Rogen’s character and throws loud outrageous parties and causes chaos.
- In 2019 Zac makes a huge leap into the role of Ted Bundy in the film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile where Zac does a phenomenal job playing the notorious serial killer.
- In 2022, Zac will star in the adaptation of Stephen King’s novel Firestarter. He will be taking the role of Andy McGee the father to a child with supernatural abilities.
Firestarter hits theaters globally on May 13 and will also stream day and date on Peacock.
