Interview by Rafy Mediavilla, with Jessie Ennis (Jo) & Ashly Burch (Rachel) where we spoke about Jo meeting with actor Joe Manganiello, & Rachel mindset this season and her relationship with Dana, & more gaming talk. Season 3 Is Out Now On Apple TV+!

In season three, “Mythic Quest” follows a group of video game developers tasked with building worlds, molding heroes and creating legends, but the most hard-fought battles don’t occur in the game — they happen in the office. In season three, as Ian and Poppy navigate the gaming world and their partnership at the newly formed GrimPop Studios, Dana is forced to play mediator to her bosses’ incessant bickering. Back at Mythic Quest, David settles into his new role as the boss where he truly finds himself in charge for the first time with Jo returning as his assistant — more loyal and militant than ever; and Carol attempts to figure out where she fits in after a new promotion. At Berkeley, Rachel struggles to balance her morals with capitalism, while a post-prison Brad tries to return to society as a reformed man.

Criticólogos:

Jesse, I want to start with you. I love Jo. Jo is always trying to, you know, make herself count and make herself useful. And to make sure that she’s accounted for and that David gets everything done. what he needs done. In your opinion, do you feel she’s just pushing a little bit just to make sure that, hey, call me and I’m here? Or if that’s just how she is?

Jessie Ennis:

I think this is just how she is. I think her toolbox, so to speak, is just poisoned. She didn’t get a normal childhood. She probably was very unattended to. And she picked up lessons maybe from like mobster movies. And she was just like, that’s how people act. That’s a normal life. So, no, I don’t think she’s pushing. I think this is just genuinely who she is. She’s just an agent of chaos.

Criticólogos:

Jesse, you again. I want to talk about without spoiling anything, A certain “Joe” that you get to work with in the series. And I want to know, he has such a huge personality. How was it working with this certain person in this season? What what happened between the two of you during the filming of that scene? Did you break out laughing because it seemed that you had a lot of fun with that scene?

Jessie Ennis:

It was so funny. We did so much improv. He came with so many ideas. He was super comfortable. He jumped right into it. He and David Hornsby went to college together at Carnegie Mellon, so they already had a bunch of shorthand, and the three of us just improvised that scene for a couple of hours. And it was a blast. I remember I loved that scene and we shot that day after our DP’s had won the AFC Awards. So I remember on set that day it was like a party. We had all these cupcakes and there was just a really lovely camaraderie that day specifically. So yeah, that episode was a thrill to shoot. And then he comes back later and it’s a very fun storyline with the team trying to get Joe Manganiello to join the Mythic Quest movie.

Criticólogos:

Ashly, I’m coming to you now, Dana and Rachel, that have a lot going for them. There’s a lot of changes happening. There’s a lot of growth happening, both for the characters and the people. And I wonder if you had the chance to talk to Rachel and you know, actually talking to Rachel, what would you tell her? You know, you know, to give us some unbiased life advice about where her life is going and how she can get there. What would you tell her?

Ashly Burch:

Oh, that’s so funny. I think I would tell her to, like, chill out a little bit. First and foremost, she could probably stay on to calm down a touch. I think I would tell her, you know, just sort of embrace what she wants to do versus what she thinks other people would want her to do. I think that’s sort of her issue in general is that she has a certain type of person she thinks she should be. And kind of what she realizes in the season is that maybe she doesn’t quite fit into that. So sort of embracing like who you are, not who you think you should be.

Criticólogos:

One final question for the two of you. Open question. I also cover gaming, streaming and movies. So I wonder, if you guys are gamers, what are you playing right now? What would you recommend my viewers to buy?

Jessie Ennis:

I just discovered Sayonara Wild Heart.

Ashly Burch:

That’s a deep cut. Oh. I’m replaying Mass Effect because I love that franchise. So the remaster is very good if you haven’t played it.
