Interview by Rafy Mediavilla with David Hornsby (David) where we spoke about David’s mindset this season, being such a relatable characher, and playing FIFA 23. Season 3 Is Out Now On Apple TV+!
In season three, “Mythic Quest” follows a group of video game developers tasked with building worlds, molding heroes and creating legends, but the most hard-fought battles don’t occur in the game — they happen in the office. In season three, as Ian and Poppy navigate the gaming world and their partnership at the newly formed GrimPop Studios, Dana is forced to play mediator to her bosses’ incessant bickering. Back at Mythic Quest, David settles into his new role as the boss where he truly finds himself in charge for the first time with Jo returning as his assistant — more loyal and militant than ever; and Carol attempts to figure out where she fits in after a new promotion. At Berkeley, Rachel struggles to balance her morals with capitalism, while a post-prison Brad tries to return to society as a reformed man.
Criticólogos:
When it comes to your character and this specific season, to me, some of the characters that are more relatable are David and Poppy. I think those two characters are so relatable to everyone. We can relate to their situations, but this is season specifically, David has a lot on his plate. He’s handling a lot of stuff. And I wonder, in your opinion, how does he keep himself grounded? From not blowing up. He keeps himself grounded.
David Hornsby:
Well, I think he’s got hope and optimism. Things are going well when we first, you know, we come back to the beginning of season three, He’s thriving and he’s actually running the company. His dream situation, which is on time and which was always proving difficult with Poppy and I. And so he’s in charge. And I think there’s nothing but hope in the air. And and but as the season progresses, I think we’ll find that he’s got some room for some real struggles.
Criticólogos:
I wanna piggyback on that answer. If you could talk to David, if David could talk to David, if that makes sense. Right. And you could tell him, give him some advice, on how to handle, without going into details, to all the situations. What would you tell him?
David Hornsby:
I think I would say. David? Yes. Can I channel both? They are one in the same. Let’s be honest. No, I think. I think I would say just. Just relax. Don’t sweat it so much right now. Literally don’t sweat so much because he pits out in the, I think, fourth episode and he’s got to go get a new shirt. So before he meets Joe Manganiello. So yeah, I think is a sweat a little less.
Criticólogos:
I also cover gaming on my platform. So I need to know if you’re playing a game right now, which one are you playing or if you would recommend one, which one would you recommend?
David Hornsby:
Well, this is a tricky answer because it’s a quick answer, which is FIFA. But I’m not going to sit here and recommend FIFA 23 because it’s just they took the fun that you guys, if you work for FIFA 23 just stop, make that thing less janky. It is just, it quits. It’s you know, I know you got that code in there. You don’t want to take it out. But you know, the foundation is built on it’s rocky, but they took some of the arcade fun out of the game. You know, it’s a little too realistic for me now. I can’t even score a goal, you know, you’re taking away my fun. I need that. At the end of the day, I need a goal or two. Give me a goal.
