In Season Two, Alma realizes there are deeper mysteries in her family’s past. However, no one in her family is interested in digging up uncomfortable truths with her—until she finally convinces her sister Becca to help her look. They realize by healing this family trauma they can make all of their lives better.

Criticólogos:

Are you guys surprise at the success from the first season, the web, specifically Twitter was buzzing about Undone?

Kate Purdy:

No, I hope people would like it. I think I would have been devastated if no one liked it. So I think I just rolled along on the course of thinking, Yeah, we worked really hard and now people are enjoying it.

Raphael Bob-Waksberg:

I feel the opposite. I’m always shocked when anything that I say or make makes sense to anybody else because I think all of all of my work, including on them, feels so personal and specific. And for you too, so precise about the people working on it and they think, oh, this is this is so screwed up. No, nobody who’s not inside my brain is going to like this at all. But I should have known, because all the people who worked on it, who were not inside my brain, who also added so much to it and also enjoyed it.

And then I think it goes out there and I go, Oh, this is just for us, because this is so special and precious and it’s always a delight. Oh, other people think it’s for them too. That’s nice.

Criticólogos:

This season is really driven by the whole family is in the middle of everything. And one of the things that I am absolutely grateful for the two of you is you absolutely embrace the Hispanic accent that we have and we don’t shy away from it. Were you guys worried that people know, like shy away from it? May they open up about something like that or do they just go with it and let’s see what happens?

Kate Purdy:

We really leave it up to the actors to decide what level of accent they’re bringing forward, and they ask a lot of questions about their character. You know what generation they are, what where they’re from specifically. And then they they work to bring the best accent forward. And so we really trust them in that process.

Raphael Bob-Waksberg:

By far as the storytelling goes. You know, I think we really wanted to be very specific about these characters that we created and let them really live their lives as they would, which is both, you know, not shying away from from their identities, but also not letting that define them and play into all of of who they are.

Criticólogos:

This season is full of surprises, & emotional moments, that may leave people in shock. What can people expect? What can you tell people to expect for this season?

Kate Purdy:

That it’s a much more expansive season that we go all over time and space and then we go really deep. But it’s also a lot of fun. And the sister relationship, as they’re sort of playing detective in their own family history is pretty joyful, even as it’s complicated and there’s some tensions. So I think it’s a wild ride and we hope people enjoy it.

Raphael Bob-Waksberg:

Yeah. I would say one of things that I love about the show is I think it’s so rich and it comes from so many people’s different experiences and different thoughts and ideas and philosophies that I think everyone’s going to get something different out of it and that depending on where you are when you watch it. You will you will connect to it in some way. And then I would say, if you love it, come back to it in a year and watch it again, and you might find that you get something completely different out of it.
