Los Angeles, CA. (July 19, 2024). Apple TV+ is preparing to launch its highly anticipated new Spanish-language series “Women in Blue (Las Azules)” on July 31, and the show’s bold theme song, “No Soy Tuya,” performed by Grammy-nominated Mexican singer-songwriter Ximena Sariñana, is now available to stream on all digital music platforms.
Set in 1970, the crime drama series, which was created by International Emmy Award-winning showrunner and director Fernando Rovzar and Pablo Aramendi, was inspired by the true stories of Mexico’s first female police force and stars Ximena Sariñana as the character Ángeles, a fingerprint analyst.
“No Soy Tuya” is the first-ever Spanish-language cover of Lesley Gore’s hit “You Don’t Own Me” and maintains the irresistible retro swing of the original. Incorporating potent jazz-driven melodies, “No Soy Tuya,” interpreted with striking passion and resolute confidence by Sariñana, eloquently captures in music the beating heart of the show, highlighting women as fiercely strong, empowered, independent trailblazers and agents of change.
“No Soy Tuya” is the first song to be released from the show’s original soundtrack, which will be available on July 31 to coincide with the series premiere and was composed by Emmy and Goya Award winner Lucas Vidal, one of the most relevant composers in international cinema today. Having previously composed the enormously successful soundtracks for films such as “Fast & Furious,” “The Raven,” and “Cold Light of Day,” as well as for series such as “Elite,” “El Immortal,” and “Largas Sombras,” among others, he has lent his extensive expertise and unmistakable sonic stamp to the “Las Azules” soundtrack, providing an outstanding musical background for impactful scenes that are sure to remain in the hearts and minds of viewers long after the first watch.
“Las Azules has been one of my most favorite projects I have ever done,” Vidal noted. “The communication between Fernando and I was simply amazing from day 1 and we knew that we wanted a very specific sound involving orchestra and synths. We recorded in Vienna and Prague in order to get the best sound possible, and he edited so well with the music that every scene works perfectly!”
The show’s music was also supervised by the incredible Lynn Fainchtein, who was working on this project when she passed away in March. Making a unique mark on the industry for more than three decades, the innovative Mexican music director and producer is best known for her work as music supervisor on films such as Alejandro González Iñárritu’s “Amores Perros” and Alfonso Cuarón’s “Roma,” among others, and was the co-founder of the record label Casete.
