Criticólogos:
What is the connection that you saw between the movies and the series?
Absolutely, yeah. The well, connection is it’s a continuation of the stories. So the series revolves around my character, Jess, and the history of her family and a big treasure that existed way back then. She wants, Jess wants to find out the truth about her father, so she decides to go on this treasure hunt and hopes to find the truth and find some answers. I think, you know, because it’s a continuation of the original films, we have the same producers, the same writers, and the same composer. And some of the characters from the films come back to participate in our series, too.
Criticólogos:
One of the things that stood out for me from the series is the diversity and inclusion of not only the characters but the cast. I absolutely love the cast. So I wonder, with that in mind, how much of your character is you being yourself, or do you just follow the script?
You know, I think I put a lot of my heart into it. Truthfully, I relate to Jess so much because, you know, my family, my family’s from Mexico. I was born here, though. So that is my difference with Jess. I just was born in Mexico and she was brought over to the United States as a baby. But I think the experience regarding family and the connection to family, she, and I are very similar. We respect the family that we have. We love them with all our hearts. And, you know, both of us are very determined, maybe stubborn young women.
Criticólogos:
I got to ask about Catherine Zeta-Jones, working with her. She’s a great actress and she has done it all. But in this, her role is so different from what we’ve seen before. So tell us about working with her, did she give you any pointers, tell you how you’re doing things that you don’t need to do? You don’t need to change anything. Keep going. How was it working with Catherine Zeta-Jones?
She is the queen of the movies. I always say that you know, she’s just a legend. She actually gave me a lot of advice and I was, you know, I wanted to absorb everything that she had given me. She really was just so genuine and kind to me. One of the moments that I remember where she gave me advice was she told me about the time she started acting when she was my age, around my age, and she realized the importance of taking her time in every scene that she does and not rushing things. And I think for me, hearing that from her gave me permission and it helped me a lot during the filming.
