“One Piece Film Red” – Movie Review by Rafy Mediavilla (@Rmediavilla)

Uta the most beloved singer in the world. Her voice, which she sings with while concealing her true identity, has been described as “otherworldly.” She will appear in public for the first time at a live concert. As the venue fills with all kinds of Uta fans excited pirates, the Navy watching closely, and the Straw Hats led by Luffy who simply came to enjoy her sonorous performance the voice that the whole world has been waiting for is about to resound.

Much like when I get the review other animated movies based on manga or comics that I don’t read or that I don’t watch. I came in to watching One Piece Film Red With zero expectations and came out absolutely in love with the film. And because I cannot compare other One Piece Films with this one because I haven’t watched them, research had to be done once again before coming into writing this review.

Animation wise I feel the art style can compare to previous One Piece films, where everything deviates from what fans are used to Is story wise given this movie is basically are origin story for Uta, And the sheer fact that this is not your typical One Piece film because in essence is a musical.

Yet all these welcome changes work for me in the end and it will work for many people that don’t truly follow the One Place franchise from the beginning. This being an origin story for Uta all you need to know about her character gets told during the development of the story, furthermore we find out stuff that we don’t know about Uta as little was told in the anime. To avoid into getting into spoiler territory, all I’m going to add is a Uta works as the main antagonist of her origin story something that I found extremely interesting.

Because the overall presentation of the movie deviates from your typical One Piece film, you would wonder if the actually scenes play more or less of a role in the story or if they’re any good in how the way they are presented. what I’m going to say is even though actions scenes are scarce, the final act delivers one EPIC battle that many fans will enjoy.

The musical aspect of the movie for me word perfect because it intertwines perfectly with Uta story arc. Again to avoid spoilers all amount to say as somebody who in the future would love to have a daughter and feel proud of what her daughter has done with her life both Uta story and then lyrics of the songs connected with me. Which by the end of the movie to me everything was an emotional roller coaster ride.

I fully understand that fans of the franchise may not be completely happy with the final outcome of this One Piece film, and many may feel as this is the worst One Piece film from the franchise. These welcome changes are things that I find refreshing, and these type of gambles are things that I constantly give kudos to when you’re trying something new. While I feel fans of One Piece should not miss this film, because it brings new light to Uta’s arc, you don’t really care about this character then there’s really no reason for you to watch.
