“Bodies Bodies Bodies” Movie Review by Rafy Mediavilla (@Rmediavilla). #BodiesBodiesBodies

When a group of rich 20-somethings plan a hurricane party at a remote family mansion, a party game goes awry in this fresh and funny look at backstabbing, fake friends, and one party gone very, very wrong.

“Bodies Bodies Bodies” what’s the most anticipated movie of this South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival this year. And consequently, one of my most anticipated movies of the year. Without giving too much away the movie can be best described as rich people being rich people doing dumb stuff and honestly, I believe nobody will understand this description until you see the movie.

The movie is billed as a horror thriller comedy and while the comedy extremely present all throughout the movie the horror thriller side not so much. For context sake a bunch of 20 something rich kids spend the night in one of the kids rich mansion in order to pass a hurricane I know what other games they start to play Bodies Bodies Bodies where the main purpose of the game it that someone has to play their killer and everybody else has to find out who the killer is when things get interesting is when somebody ends up dead for real.

One the first things that caught my attention about the movie, it’s something that I know a lot of people really don’t pay much attention to and it’s the fact that this is A24 movie. A24 Is mostly known for artistic cinematic experiences they do have some commercial base movies but that is not their strong suit so right away I’m already interested in watching this film because I want to see what they can bring to the table when it comes to our more commercial base story. And I commend them for taking risks as a studio and always trying to bring something different to the movie going experience.

I’m a huge fan of murder mystery movies so that right off the bat is something that I knew I was going to enjoy about the movie. But also, me being a fan of this genre comes with a double-edged sword in the fact that I can typically see what’s coming and the movie then becomes predictable at moments. And it’s safe to say that if you really pay close attention to how the story is being developed Halfway through the movie did you get a sense of what really is going on here.

Putting the story aside what really shines in this movie are the characters under performances from the actors. While we may not have that many faces that are well known to everyone aside from Lee Pace and Pete Davidson and maybe Amandla Stenberg or Rachel Sennott. Once the second act comes about their relationship between the girls comes forward and they just take over the whole movie.

It is from this point over that where you are just caught up in what’s going on with their situations, their lives, and their stories. This is when this truth tries to reveal himself and I know many will refine ways to relate to their situations or their characters. while performances were great if I have to single out someone it has to be without a doubt Rachel Sennott performance. She brought the comedic side to the story and she was amazing even in some comedic physical spots. I believe that a lot of content creators like myself will relate to her character.

When it’s all said and done Bodies Bodies Bodies it’s just a fun time at the movies. with a story that I’m pretty sure millennials and GenZ’s we’ll come to enjoy anyone relate to in some ways, even though we are not rich people, and may not do dumb stuff as they did.
