“Turrican Flashback” (PS4 – Review) by Rafy Mediavilla.
Como bien dice el título Turrican flashback es un viaje en el tiempo al 1990 en el Commadore 64, donde este juegos es una compilación de 4 de los títulos más populares de la franquicia. Donde para aquellos tiempos se convirtió instantáneamente en un clásico del género con niveles repletos de acción y un soundtrack épico.
Comenzando con Turrican el proyecto que le dio inicio a toda esta franquicia, donde claramente vemos mucha inspiración de videojuegos como Metroid, y obviamente Contra, ese run and gu side scroller, si le viera como base trayendo a la mesa una entrega como épicas batallas, un arsenal de armas, y hasta super ataques, donde uno uno de los atractivos principales eso impredecible que es cuando pueden llegar a un Boss o hasta donde termina un level.
Con la llegada de Turrican II: The Final Fight donde en esencia expandimos en la base ya establecida por el juegos anterior lo que hacemos básicamente es una mejora en los gráficos. Manteniendo en esencia la base de lo que es un videojuego run and gun side scroller repleto de acción y epicas batallas.
Mega Turrican, y Super Turrican que se lanzaron en el Mega Drive y el Super Nintendo respectivamente eleva el producto no solamente sus gráficas sino también su jugabilidad, y aunque estas entregas fueron más lineales sí añadieron más poder en su arsenal de armas.
Y como es típico de estas compilaciones emuladas hay otros factores interesantes que lo adaptan a los tiempos cómo es la habilidad de cambiar aspect ratio de la pantalla, y hasta la función de dar rewind, con el fin de corregir algún error que hayas cometido durante tu corrida.
Aunque decir que algunos de estos fue más difícil que el otro es difícil de predecir, aquí la clave es el factor nostalgia, y revivir estos tiempos de los 90, y todo el tiempo que se le dedico a esta franquicia en sus edad de oro. Por ende, esto esta es además establecer que si te gustó 1 definitivamente los demás te van a encantar.
Como siempre me gusta terminar hablando del Price Point donde $30 dólares encuentro que es un precio bien atractivo tomando en consideración toda la cantidad de contenido y horas de juegos que contiene. Turrican Flashback ya está disponible para Nintendo switch y PlayStation 4.

As the title says Turrican flashback is a trip back in time to 1990 on the Commadore 64, where this game is a compilation of 4 of the most popular titles of the franchise. Where for those times it instantly became a classic of the genre with action packed levels and an epic soundtrack.
Starting with Turrican the project that gave the start to this whole franchise, where we clearly see a lot of inspiration from video games like Metroid, and obviously Contra, that run and gu side scroller, if I saw him as a base bringing to the table a delivery as epic battles, an arsenal of weapons, and even super attacks, where one of the main attractions that unpredictable that is when they can get to a Boss or even where it ends a level.
With the arrival of Turrican II: The Final Fight where in essence we expand on the base already established by the previous game what we do basically is an improvement in graphics. Maintaining in essence the base of what is a video game run and gun side scroller full of action and epic battles.
Mega Turrican, and Super Turrican that were released on the Mega Drive and the Super Nintendo respectively elevated the product not only its graphics but also its gameplay, and although these releases were more linear they did add more power in their arsenal of weapons.
And as is typical of these emulated compilations there are other interesting factors that adapt to the times such as the ability to change aspect ratio of the screen, and even the function of giving rewind, in order to correct any mistake you have made during your run.
Although to say that some of these were more difficult than others is hard to predict, the key here is the nostalgia factor, and reliving the times of the 90’s, and all the time that was dedicated to this franchise in its golden age. Therefore, this is further establishing that if you liked 1 you will definitely love the others.
As always I like to finish talking about the Price Point where $30 dollars is a very attractive price considering the amount of content and hours of gameplay it contains. Turrican Flashback is now available for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
