TNT, TBS and truTV Celebrate International Women’s Day with Empowerment Campaign to Uplift and Challenge Gender Bias.
Samantha Bee, Jameela Jamil, Judy Reyes, Kristen Kish and Brandi Rhodes Lend Their Voices to Poignant Issues Women Face in Animated Features.
LOS ANGELES – March 8, 2021 – TNT, TBS and truTV celebrate International Women’s Day to bring awareness to women’s issues by making the unseen more visible through an empowerment initiative that shines a light on the biases women face every day.
Powered by an all-female-crew, internally and externally, all three networks came together with Black Woman Animate, an animation studio powered by Black female talent across the animation pipeline, to create five animated pieces that spotlight powerful issues such as the gender pay gap, body liberation and self-confidence.

“After learning the extent that women have been set back in the workforce due to the pandemic, we wanted to bring to light these issues in a creative and impactful way,” said Missy Chambless, EVP of Marketing for TNT, TBS and truTV. “We invited strong female icons across our networks to give voice to these critical issues of women’s equality, and partnered with Black Women Animate to vibrantly bring them to life.”
TNT, TBS and truTV talent Samantha Bee (“Full Frontal with Samantha Bee”), Jameela Jamil (“The Misery Index”), Judy Reyes (“Claws”), Kristen Kish (“Fast Foodies”) and Brandi Rhodes (AEW) have lent their voices to topics that are all too relatable for most women. These pieces strive to uplift the unseen, spark conversation, and inspire change.
Each animated segment was created and produced by Black Woman Animate, April Dace of Dace & Mohr, Alison Roberto, Liz Armstrong and Polina Portnaya.
