Criticólogos:

Your character has been he’s headstrong, she really active. And I want to talk about how did you prepare yourself for the action scenes? I mean, physically and mentally, for those heavy days of so much action?

Sisi Stringer:

Well, yeah, some days it was difficult because I don’t take good care of myself. So. But otherwise, like, it’s Rose and I so similar. Rose and I are so similar that it’s actually scary sometimes. So I never really second guessed myself in terms of creating her character because I relate to her so much and I absolutely loved doing the stunts. I’ve done a bit of stunt work before and a bit of martial arts, but it’s I had to learn how to learn it again because I’ve been out of practice for a while, so it’s a bit shaky at first, but I entrusted everything in the in the hands of the stunt people and they were absolutely amazing. So even when I wasn’t that great, they really made it look fantastic.

Criticólogos:

Let’s talk about Lisa. And she’s really reserved. She doesn’t really want to be part of this group. And I wonder, how much did you relate to her in her situation?

Daniela Nieves:

Well, I think I related to her. I mean, Lisa is definitely like one of those people who she’s seen this world and she’s kind of calling out the B.S. and kind of saying, like, just because I’m born into this, like, why do I have to participate? And I think through that, she ends up realizing that it’s really not it’s really not so much of a B.S. perspective, but more so of, hey, you can actually do something about it, like, like take advantage of the privilege that you have and use it to, to make the change that you want to make. And I think that part of her just really resonates with me.

Criticólogos:

How much of the source material, of the book, you knew before coming in the role, or did you just work of what she gave you?

Sisi Stringer:

I read the books when I was a teenager. My sister was super into them and I stole her books. And I read them all and I loved it. It was it’s just such a it’s such a fun story. It’s so wonderful. They really build the world and the lore of the world that Rochelle Me built with the books is is really cool. And it’s something it’s vampires that you haven’t seen before. It’s vampires in a different way. So it really it’s it really is like a new, fresh world. So when I got the audition for Rose, I knew the character, I knew the story. I was super excited. I reread the book, I watched the movie and did all of that stuff. So yeah, it’s like it’s just such a joy to be part of this.

Daniela Nieves:

Yeah, I mean, I think that Julie does a great job at taking this world and I mean, it’s Julie Plec, you know, she’s known for these shows. I think that especially with casting, I mean, she did such an amazing job at capturing the essence of who these characters were. And even though, you know, it has her twist on it and our twist on it and we made it our own, I think they do stay very true to the characters from the books and through reading. I mean, I started reading the books after I book the role, but through reading the books I could definitely see why Sisi cast as Rose. Oh yeah, Kieran is cast as Dimitri. I mean you can feel that throughout the show.

Sisi Stringer:

I actually did audition for Lisa as well. It was funny. I was with Jeanette and who plays Sonia and we we found in our phones, we just found our audition tapes and we watched we watched Jeanette as one for her play Rose and and we were like, okay, you just sing. And then straight after that, we watched mine and we were like, Oh, okay, yeah, we get it. And then I watched her audition for Sonia and I was like, Oh, that’s perfect. So you’re right. Like, the essence. The essence of the character was really there.
